National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (Discovery Collections)

The Discovery Collections held at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton is an actively growing collection of deep-sea organisms dating back to 1925  (http://noc.ac.uk/data/discovery-collections). As a specialised collection with a long history we are particularly interested in :

  •    Digitisation of collection data and access to such data associated with specimens;
  •    Using collections data to study environmental change
  •    Identification of deep-sea species and provision of access to an inaccessible environment

The National Oceanography Centre is NERC's Centre of Excellence for Oceanographic Sciences with a remit to provide leadership and national capability in the marine sciences from coast to deep-ocean..
