Istituto di studi sui Sistemi Intelligenti per l’Automazione (CNR_ISSIA) (http://res.ba.issia.cnr.it/) researchers have developed competence in multi-source/scale satellite and aerial Earth Observation (EO) data analysis for automatic and semi-automatic image segmentation and classification, change detection for biodiversity (habitats) monitoring, interferometric SAR data processing applied to subsidence and landslide monitoring, microwave SAR data interpretation for the extraction of bio-geophysics parameters, polarimetric calibration; radar polarimetry.
CNR_ISSIA is the coordinating Partner of the BIOdiversity Multi-Source Monitoring System: from Space TO Species (BIO_SOS) project (FP7-SPACE-2010-1; GA 263435) funded within FP7-SPACE (Dec. 2010-Nov. 2013). It was partner of other EU projects, such as FIRESENSE (FP7-ENV-2009-1-244088) project (FP7) and LEWIS-EVG1-CT-2001-00055 project (FP5). CNR_ISSIA participated as partner or coordinator to many national and international projects, supported by the Italian Space Agency (ASI), European Space Agency.
