Max Planck Insitute for Marine Microbiology

The Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology (MPIMM) investigates the diversity and functions of marine microorganisms and their interactions with the marine environment. The focus of the Microbial Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Group is on developing enabling technologies to transform the wealth of sequence and environmental data into biological knowledge. Techniques used are bioinformatic whole genome and metagenome analysis, binning of sequence fragments, phylogenetic inference, expression profiling as well as software and database development for integrated data analysis.
